Irrespective of how well you think that you'll trade, the mentor will pinpoint your weaknesses and save you a lot of unhealthy trades, whereas keeping the good ones going.

And then I assumed, that sounds sensible, but how do I use the trading calendar to predict volatility, and how do I find a mentor that knows all of this, and can answer my each query?

When wanting around and talking to many serious traders, I finally determined that I required some education. I new what I needed, and at last I found a nice educator. Not only do they have a significant and very effective coaching program, however they conjointly were in a position to answer so several of my difficult questions. Queries like how do I build sense of the trading calendar, how do I spot dumb money moves, how do I house conflicting indicators and many more questions.

Obtaining educated helped me out a heap, while I have moved on from their original trading strategy, as I have slightly changed their rules. I mix everything they taught me together with what I learned from others and also the results are great.

Of course, the rules mentioned on top of, are not for use as laborious and fast golden rules. For instance I can now trade on FOMC meeting days, however I know that the first session trends to have 90% likelihood of really fizzling out, after all the whole day can be nothing but false moves.

To a new trader, FOMC meeting days will be so intimidating. Imagine expecting a large rally to take place, and shopping for huge, only to search out that it goes nowhere. Imagine how several unnecessary losses this trader can incur that day.

Getting educated was my best choice ever, it was the most effective spent cash in my life, and it has really paid off ever since! And it's not just the money; they conjointly saved me a heap of frustration. Once attending the mentoring program, I can create a living trading the markets, just four days a week. If a stock encompasses a bullish MACD, as an example, you furthermore mght want to check to create certain it’s not in some type of bearish chart-pattern formation, or that it doesn’t have a dangerous-looking PPO, etc. No one indicator or pattern can be the “be all, finish all.”

This probably leads to a problem, though: “analysis paralysis.” Traders can get so wrapped up testing plays against numerous indicators that, by the point they’re done screening, the play is not any good. Even longer-term traders are subject to having their judgment obfuscated by redundancy and noise, when ultimately, most technical indicators are designed to live the identical factor: the worth trend of a stock.

But with thus many indicators saying the identical factor and usually sending mixed signals, shouldn’t there be some indicators that attempt to measure one thing other than worth trend? There are, in fact, and in nowadays’s episode we’ll examine one of the most distinctive situated: the Detrended Worth Oscillator, or DPO.

During this episode, you’ll learn:

- What DPO is and why it's thus unique and valuable (zero:thirty seven)

- The formula for DPO, explained with simple-to-perceive examples (one:11)

- How “offset SMA” - a key part of DPO - works, and the way it looks on a stock chart (1:53)

- How DPO can be used to filter out longer-term trends to target shorter cycles (a pair of:fifty three)

This episode additionally shows you specifically how to add DPO to your own stock charts, using StockCharts.com. The nice news is that it’s free, too. We have a tendency to conjointly take a look at 2 real-life samples of stock charts with DPO underlays.

DPO does indirectly predict the direction of a stock. Instead, it estimates the length of a stock’s cycle. If a stock has been experiencing twenty-day cycles, whereby it is hitting new highs and lows at intervals the cycle approximately every twenty days, DPO can eliminate general price trend from the analysis and help you establish this. This may do additional to tell your trading than perhaps anything else.

Happy Trading!

Manny Backus
CEO, Wealthpire Inc.

P.S. The good news is that the bull markets last much longer than the bear markets. Investors who keep their eyes open can typically find good opportunities when the stock market falls. This is because we often see good stocks act well during declines in the market.

This is not to say that the stock has to rally while the overall market is falling. The stock could move sideways while the market or the sector to which it belongs heads south. It may even fall a little bit but not as much as the market. If you own the stock, you may not be happy that it is moving down, but if the market falls 15 percent and your stock drops by only 5 percent, that is good performance relative to the market.

Step back and think about it for a minute, though. The irrefutable law of supply and demand is what moves stocks. If you see a stock moving sideways during a market decline, it suggests there is enough demand for that stock to offset all of the supply. With most stocks falling during a decline, there is selling pressure on the vast majority of stocks.

Yet here is a stock that is bucking that trend. It is not moving up, but it’s not moving down, either, and that is because of the demand for the stock. Once the selling pressure from the market decline is finished, demand usually remains strong. Not only that, but the investors who were buying the stock during the decline are not likely to sell soon, since they just purchased the stock and are expecting it to move higher. That means there is less supply of the stock to put on the stock market recommandations, and this, too, is good. The point is you can use market declines to try to find stocks that are holding up well.

Relative strength is a good tool to use to help you in this process. You will also want to note that stocks that hold up well are often market leaders once the market turns back up. We should mention one caveat here, however. When the market does decline sharply, you will often see a flight to higher yielding stocks. The thinking is that the yield will offer the stock some support, since investors will pay for the dividend. So be careful that any list you keep of stocks holding up well in a falling market are not all high-yielding stocks.

Essentials Of Stock Selections

We recommend a top-down approach to stock stock investing. In light of that, we designed a four-step process that you should go through when initiating new positions.

STEP 1: Market

What to do: Use the NYSE Bullish Percent, Option Stock Bullish Percent, OTC Bullish Percent, High-Low Index, Ten Week, and other indicators to determine if you play offense or defense.

STEP 2: Sector

What to do: Determine which sectors suggest offense in a column of Xs on their sector bullish percent chart. It is best to stay with sectors that are bullish and below 50 percent. Determine how a sector is doing relative to the S&P 500. Ideally, you want to invest in sectors that are outperforming the SPX.

STEP 3: Fundamentals

What to do: Create and maintain an inventory of stocks to work from. Use any number of sources available to determine which stocks are fundamentally sound. In this step you are pinpointing which specific stock to buy.

STEP 4: Technicals

What to do: Review fundamentally sound stocks on a technical basis to cull those controlled by demand, those that demonstrate the best technical picture. This will narrow your fundamental inventory down to those issues with the best probability of moving higher. In this step you are determining when to buy a specific stock.

In summary, try to follow this four-step checklist when initiating new positions. By paying attention to the stock trading and the sector risks (opportunities), and then coupling the fundamentals with the technicals, your odds of success should increase. Not every trade will work out, but this gives you a definable game plan, something most investors don’t have. Stick to the plan, make your decision, then manage the outcome.

Why do stock prices change??

Some believe that it isn’t possible to predict how stocks will change in price while others think that by drawing charts and looking at past price movements, you can determine when to buy and sell. The only thing we do know as a certainty is that stocks are volatile and can change in price extremely rapidly.

Here are the important things to grasp about this subject:

1.
At the most fundamental level, supply and demand in the market determine stock price.

2.
Price times the number of shares outstanding (market capitalization) is the value of a company. Comparing just the share price of two companies is meaningless.

3.
Theoretically earnings are what affect investors’ valuation of a company, but there are other indicators that investors use to predict stock price. Remember, it is investors’ sentiments, attitudes, and expectations that ultimately affect stock prices.

4.
There are many theories that try to explain the way stock prices move the way they do. Unfortunately, there is no one theory that can explain everything.
Buying Stocks

You’ve now learned what a stock is and a little bit about the principles behind the stock market, but how do you actually go about buying stocks? Thankfully you don’t have to go down into the trading pit yelling and screaming your order.

There are two main ways to purchase stock:

1.
Using a Brokerage The most common method to buy stocks is to use a brokerage.

Brokerages come in two different flavors.

Full-service brokerages offer you (supposedly) expert advice and can manage your account but also charge a lot.

Discount brokerages offer little in the way of personal attention but are much cheaper.

At one time, only the wealthy could afford a broker since only the expensive, full-service brokers were available. With the Internet came the explosion of online discount brokers. Because of them nearly anybody can now afford to invest in the market. We’ve actually got a whole separate tutorial on brokers and online stock trading, and you can check it out here.

2.
DRIPs & DIPs Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRIPs) and Direct Investment Plans (DIPs) are plans with which individual companies, for a minimal cost, allow shareholders to purchase stock directly from the company. Drips are a great way to invest small amounts of money at regular intervals.

Advantages to Shareholders

When you buy stock in a corporation, you own part of that company. So as a part of a corporation, shareholder will be entitled to share the profits of the company.
Now all the shareholders can be benefited by 2 ways:

When a company pays out profits to the shareholder, the money received is called a "dividend". The corporation's board of directors chooses when to declare a dividend and how much to pay.

Or when performs well, the stock price will go up and shareholders can sell their stocks at a profit. This will happen when more investors want to buy stock in a company than wish to sell.

So if someone sees a good future of your pizza shop and they can expect that their money is going to grow with the company, they won't mind investing in your pizza shop. Example : If you have invested $1000 to buy 100 shares of a company at $10 each and the share price rose to $13 each, you would gain $300. That is equivalent to 30% return.

Why People Sell Stocks

There can be so many reasons behind that. A person may just need the money. He or she may have watched the stock price go up, and have a feeling that this is the right time to get out of the trade and lock in some profit.

Any bad news about the company or the industry, or a disappointing company's earning report can also motivate him to sell the stock. He may also sell stocks because he sees a better opportunity in some company.

For example, one may sell IBM shares, which is not moving, because he thinks he can make better profit in Microsoft. Most of time, investors sell the stocks because they have watched the price fall and in panic, they just want to get out of the trade before they lose even more.

The Process of Issuing Stocks

Corporations sell stock to public as one way to raise capital. They are not allowed to sell shares of stock on the open market without the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

A 20 days wait is required before it can sell the stock.

Companies may make their statement public with a preliminary prospect called "Red Hearing". Basic information about the new offering is provided including how many shares are being offered, which brokerage company will distribute the stocks to the public.

Now the company cannot sell the stock directly to the company. So they hire an investment banker to help it sell its stocks. The process is called "Underwriting". The investment banker works as a intermediary between the company and the public.

In most cases, underwriter purchases the stocks from the company for resale to the public at higher price.

The difference between the price the underwriter pays and the price the public pays is called as "Underwriting Spread".

A stock issue can be underwritten by several methods.

The underwriter can act as an agent, in which it tries to sell as much of the issue as it can at market prices. This is a best effort arrangement.

The issuing company can also agree to issue new stock on the condition that all of it is sold. If all of the stock is not sold, then it will withdraw the issue. This is an all-or-none arrangement.

A negotiated underwriting is when the issuer and the corporation negotiate the terms of the issue, the price, the size and other details.

The issue may be subject to competitive bids from investment bankers. The top bidder underwrites the issue and resells it to the public.

When a public company issues more of its stock, it must first offer that stock to existing shareholders; that is their preemptive right. A standby is the public sale of whatever stock the existing shareholders have not yet purchased.

A firm commitment arrangement is when an investment banker buys all of the stock from the corporation and then resells it to the public at a higher price.

A private placement is an offering in which the company sells to private investors and not to the public. Private placements do not have registration fees.

The Prospectus

Prospectuses are legal documents that explain the financial facts important to an offering. They must precede or accompany the sale of a primary offering.

The law requires companies selling primary offerings to send prospectuses to anyone who wants to buy a primary offering. Customers should read a prospectus carefully before purchasing any primary offering.

Prospectus must include but are not limited to the following:

Offering Price

Legal Opinion about the issue

Underwriting Method

The history of the company

Other costs related to the investing in the stock

The management Team

The handling of proceeds

Trading Psychology- Knowing yourself is a key

Let me share a story with you -

This story is about two young men. Both of them graduated from the college on the same day. Both of them have a passion towards stock trading, both were intelligent, both of them were full of aspirations and wanted to become successful in the stock market.

Both of them started trading at the same time. They started trading with same capital, same type of trading software and tools along with the same type of trading system with the precise rules for entry and exit.

But after one month, there was a difference in the amount they have earned during that month trading stocks. After one month, one trader gone broke and other returned with 25% returns on his investment.

Any guess work??? What makes this kind of difference in their trading results? Active participation on a daily basis can wear and tear on your nerves, especially in the NASDAQ Level II market where there is considerably more risk. You must learn to manage your own psychological reactions to risks, winning, loosing and continuous temptations. Controlling your emotions in an illogical manner isn't something you learn over night. Emotions are natural reactions to other stimulus in our lives.

For example, if someone pulls a gun on you, your first inclination might be fear, panic, holding your hands up, yelling "don't shoot", and possibly all of those things. It's natural to feel that way. You are not likely to say something such as, "Hold on a minute. I need a good cup of coffee first." That would be a calm, unworried response.

When you've lost thousands of dollars you have invested, the last thing you want to do is remain calm, unworried, and run home to tell your spouse the not so lucky news. Your first inclination might be to get it back as quickly as possible, which leads people into unwarranted, rash decisions that could possibly turn out to be even worse. Get a grip. Be patient. Weigh the possible outcome risks with your next available choices. Don't make a bad or unlucky decision create a domino effect of other misguided choices. If the temptation to do something quickly is still floating among your brain cells, get away from the stock market. Take a break until you feel more relaxed and level headed, even if it takes several days. Do not make another move until your emotions are in check.

Nearly 80% of people who attempt this industry fail and quit. They either can't handle the stress, trade with their life savings, or they make several bad decisions out of ignorance or blind emotion. The first step is to recognize the limitations and tolerance while taking the risk and then accepting the possible results of the risk. This is easier to do if you are trading with a stash of money you have set aside specifically for this purpose. However, if you are trading with your life savings, bill money or your retirement money, the outcome of losing it would be much worse than losing money you don't need to live on. This greatly increases your emotional stresses, thereby, greatly increasing your chances of making the wrong decisions and losing it anyway.

Risk

Many people think of stock investments as no more than gambling away money. That's because most people have no real understanding of choices. They think of labor as the only means of making money and winning money by chance, strategy, or even by decision-making skills is nothing more than a risk, and therefore, not worth it. Of course, fear is always the first reaction to something we don't understand.

Best Stock Recommendation

Remove the loser and keep the winner

For many it is worse than having a tooth pulled to sell a stock for a price lower than what they paid for it. If you buy a stock for $20 and it drops to $10, so long as you don't sell, then it can be referred to as an unrealized loss. In this case you can say to your spouse, Don't worry, dear. It's going to come back. Similarly, many can't wait to sell as soon as they can see daylight between the purchase price and the current price. If the price has gone up be a few dollars, they want to sell and lock in the profit.

We referred to this as watering the weeds and pulling up the flowers. They are examples of what I call investor diseases. The disease of holding on to your losers I call get-evenitis. The disease of selling winners I call consolidatus profitus. We found that people tended to trade out of winners into stocks that performed less well. In the opposite direction, the study showed that the losers in their portfolio tended to continue to under perform. It was really the case that once a loser, always a loser.

We found that people would have been better to sell their losers and keep their winners. Instead, they did the opposite, namely keep their losers and sell their
winners.

Suppose two simple changes were made: the investors sold their losers and held on to their winners. On average, the study showed that their average annual performance would have gone up by almost five percent per year.

The difference between the two strategies is even more marked when taxes are taken into account. When you claim a loss you are getting a tax rebate and so you want this as early as possible. In contrast, with a profit you are paying tax so you want to delay this as long as possible. But, as we just learned, the average investor tends to take profits early and losses late ending up on the wrong side of the taxman.

This gives us confirmation of secret number eight: Remove the looser and keep the winner not the other way around. Of course, this is an oversimplification. There are times when it is better to keep a stock when the price has gone down. In fact, it may well make sense to buy more. At other times, it is better to sell a stock after it has gone up. Each case has to be treated on its own merits.

This leads to the question. Just when should you sell? A large survey carried out by the Australian Stock Exchange showed that investors found it much harder to know when to sell than when to buy. Similar results were found in a survey of nearly 300 investors that I carried out. Almost 50 percent said that they either regularly worry or constantly worry about when to sell their stocks.

The general rule which is full of common sense is - Sell only when you can be very confident that you can do significantly better with your money in another stock. The problem is to be able to determine when this is the case.
